How to Repurpose One Blog Post into 2 Weeks of Content (for Family Photographers)

If you are a family photographer running your entire business solo, you already know the content creation hamster wheel. You shoot, you edit, you deliver, you market, you repeat. And somewhere in the middle of all that, you are supposed to show up online with fresh content every single week. Here is the good news: you do not need to create brand new content from scratch every time you sit down at your computer. You need ONE strong blog post and a repurposing system that stretches it across two full weeks of content. I am going to walk you through 10 ways to do that. But first, a quick mindset shift.

You Have More Time Than You Think

Before you tell me, “Dolly, I do not have time to batch content,” I want you to try something. Track your entire week, hour by hour, for seven days. Write down what you do from the time you wake up to the time you go to bed. Every hour. Be honest. This exercise comes from the 168-hour method (because every person on earth gets 168 hours a week, no exceptions). When I did this as a mom of young kids, I found 10 extra hours in my week, and I was still sleeping 7 to 8 hours a night. The time is there. You just have to see it first. Once you find those pockets, block out one session to batch your content. One blog post. Two weeks of content. That is the goal.

10 Ways to Repurpose a Single Blog Post

1. Start with a Content-Rich Blog Post

This is your foundation. Pick one topic your ideal family photography client would search for, and write a blog post that answers their question with depth and detail. Commit to a consistent posting schedule, even if it feels like nobody is reading yet. You are building a library that search engines will reward over time. And if you need extra help in getting started with blogging, I have created a system to help you with consistent blogging with the Blogging & Visibility System.  blog banner that states blog consistently without starting from scratch and it advertises the blogging and visibility toolkit for family photographers

2. Talk About It on Instagram Stories

The same day you publish your blog post, hop on Instagram Stories and tell your audience about it. Give them a reason to click. Tease one tip, share a behind-the-scenes moment from writing it, or ask a question that your blog post answers. Stories are where you build trust with your audience through consistent, low-pressure visibility. See what is working on Instagram and use what is working to push that content to your newest blog post!

3. Create a Static Instagram Post

Write a caption that pulls out one key idea from your blog and frames it as a standalone insight for family photographers. Link your blog in your bio (or use a link-in-bio tool) so your audience can find the full post. Your feed post should deliver value on its own, even if nobody clicks through.

4. Record a Short-Form Video (Reel)

Pick one specific point from your blog post and turn it into a 30 to 90-second Reel. Outline your talking points before you hit record so you stay focused and do not ramble. Short-form video is how new audiences find you, so this one piece of repurposed content can reach people who would never have found your blog on their own.

5. Share It on Facebook

Post a summary or teaser of your blog to your Facebook business page or group. Not every family in your area is on Instagram. Some of your best-fit clients are scrolling Facebook while their kids nap, and a well-written post with a link to your blog could be the first time they discover you.

6. Post on LinkedIn

If you are a family photographer who also does branding or headshot work (or if you want to connect with other business owners who might refer clients to you), LinkedIn is worth your time. Share a version of your blog post written for that audience. Even one post a week on LinkedIn can build referral relationships you would never find on Instagram alone.

7. Pin It to Pinterest

Pinterest is a search engine, not a social media platform, and that makes it one of the best long-term traffic drivers for family photographers. Create 5 to 8 pin graphics in Canva using different titles and descriptions, all linking back to your blog post. Schedule them through a tool like Tailwind. Pinterest and Google are my top two traffic sources, and both reward consistent, keyword-rich content over time.

8. Email It to Your List

Your email list is the one audience you actually own. No algorithm decides whether your subscribers see your content. Send a short, personal email that highlights the main takeaway from your blog and includes a link to read the full post. If you do not have an email list yet, start building one today. It is the single most important marketing asset for a family photography business. 9. Turn It into a Podcast Episode

If you have a podcast (or want to start one), your blog post is a ready-made script. Adapt it into a conversational format, record it, and publish. You now have the same content reaching people who prefer to listen while they drive, fold laundry, or edit photos. The effort-to-impact ratio here is high because the hard work of outlining and writing is already done.

10. Record a YouTube Video

Take the same content and record a YouTube video. YouTube is a search engine, and a well-titled video on a topic your ideal clients are searching for can bring in new leads for months (or years). You do not need fancy equipment. A phone, decent lighting, and a clear outline are enough to get started. The last two options take more time, but if you have already invested the effort in writing a strong blog post, turning it into audio and video formats means you are reaching three different types of content consumers from a single piece of work.

The Big Picture

You do not need to create content from scratch every day to stay visible as a family photographer. You need a system that takes one strong piece of content and distributes it across the platforms where your ideal clients spend time. That is what a content repurposing workflow looks like, and it is one of the foundational systems I teach inside The Family Photographer’s Marketing Society. Meet Your Favorite Marketing Strategist and Business Coach for Family Photographers (Dolly DeLong Education)

Hi, I’m Dolly DeLong, a Nashville-based family photographer, marketing strategist, and systems educator for family photographers who want structure, clarity, and consistency in their marketing.

My photography journey began in 2006, and over the years, I built a sustainable family photography business while navigating motherhood, client work, and the realities of running a solo creative business. Along the way, I discovered something unexpected: I loved the backend just as much as the creative side.

What started as organizing my own workflows turned into helping other family photographers simplify their marketing, build repeatable systems, and stop relying on last-minute posting or panic marketing.

Today, I focus exclusively on helping family photographers intentionally market their businesses (not with trends but with consistently showing up).

I offer two ways to work with me:

Through my blog, podcast, and YouTube channel, I teach family photographers how to think like marketers, plan ahead, and create marketing rhythms that support both their business and their family life.

I still photograph families around Nashville because it’s one of my greatest joys. But helping family photographers build calm, consistent marketing systems that actually fit real life is a close second.

I’m so glad you are here, reading this blog, listening to the podcast, or watching the embedded YouTube video. I hope this educational content was helpful. Please let me know what future systems content you would like me to create!
