Why Blogging Matters for Family Photographers in Q4

If you’re a family photographer, Q4 is usually the busiest season of the year. Between editing queues, holiday sessions, and end-of-year deadlines, sitting down to write can feel impossible. But here’s the truth: blogging for SEO as a family photographer in November is one of the smartest ways to plant seeds for 2026.

In this post, I’ll share three blog post ideas you can batch this month to boost your visibility, position yourself as the expert, and attract your dream clients.

And I’ll give you three ways to consume this content

1. Blog About the Best Family Photography Locations in November (In Your City)

One of the simplest ways to show up in Google searches is to blog about specific locations in your area. For example:

  • Best Family Photography Locations in November in Nashville

  • Top Fall Photo Spots in Bozeman, Montana for Families

Why this works: future clients are already typing these phrases into Google. They don’t know you’re the answer yet, but by writing about local spots, you’re putting yourself directly in their search path.

Pro tip: Use photos from past sessions at those locations so readers can visualize themselves there.

2. Create a “What to Wear for November Family Photos” Guide

The question every client asks: What should we wear?

Blogging about seasonal outfit ideas not only positions you as the expert but also attracts future clients who want cohesive, Pinterest-worthy holiday photos.

Here’s how to make it simple:

  • Highlight 3–5 outfit combinations from past fall sessions.

  • Mention local shops or boutiques where families can shop.

  • Offer tips on color palettes that photograph beautifully in November.

This doubles as a blog post AND a resource you can share with booked clients.

3. Teach Clients How to Use Their Photos After a Session

Too often, family photos live on a client’s phone or Instagram feed, and that’s it. Use your blog to guide them through their next steps (after their session)!

Examples include:

  • How to order professional prints

  • Creating albums for grandparents (perfect for holiday gifts!)

  • Displaying photos in their home

  • Turning family sessions into Christmas cards

Not only does this serve your clients, but it also gives you a chance to promote your own print shop, album design services, or professional lab partners.

Bonus: Batch & Internally Link Your Blogs

When you’re in busy season, writing multiple posts may feel overwhelming. That’s why I recommend batching them.

Spend one afternoon writing your November location guide, your outfit inspiration post, and your “how to use your photos” blog. Then schedule them out across Q4.

TIP: Don’t forget to internally link these posts to each other. For example, your “What to Wear” post can link to your “Best Locations” post. Internal linking enhances SEO and encourages readers to explore your site further.

Final Thoughts

Even in your busiest season, blogging is worth your time. These three blog ideas not only attract new clients but also set you apart as the go-to photographer in your city.

Meet Your Favorite Launch Planner for Small Biz Owners & Marketing Strategist for Family Photographers (Dolly DeLong Education)

a_picture_of_the_delong_family

Hi! I’m Dolly DeLong: a Nashville-based family photographer turned systems + marketing educator and Fractional CMO for family photographers and solo business owners.  After years of juggling motherhood, running a thriving family photography business, and helping other creatives behind the scenes with their launches and marketing, I realized something: the backend matters just as much as your booking calendar.

Now, I serve two kinds of faith-driven creatives:

  • Family photographers who want to stop ghosting their audience and finally stay consistent with Instagram + email marketing.

  • Solo business owners who have a digital offer they want to launch—but feel completely overwhelmed by the pre-launch phase

Through my weekly podcast, YouTube channel, and blog, I offer strategic (but doable) content on systems, workflows, launch planning, and consistent marketing rhythms that won’t burn you out.

I’m here to help you stop duct-taping your backend together and instead build systems that support your life and values—whether you’re marketing mini sessions/photography sessions or launching a digital course as a creative.

When I’m not strategizing a launch calendar or batch recording content during nap time, you can find me photographing families in and around Nashville, watching reruns of old movies on AMC, reading a WW2 book, eating something sweet, or walking with a podcast in my ears. (Yes, I’m that girl.)

Are you Ready to finally market with intention and launch with clarity?
Let’s get started—because you don’t have to do this alone.
