We all know blogging is great for things like SEO and user engagement, but it can feel tedious, time-consuming, and hard to know if you’re actually going to get a return on your investment.  But what if there was a simplified way to write great blog posts in an efficient (and dare I say fun) way? Now, there is.

How to Write Great Blog Posts

Step 1: Thinking

The first step to any great blog post is thinking about your content. Above all else — your blog should deliver actual value to the reader and draw them closer to your business. When you hit this step, it might be helpful to make a list of sample blog posts that your ideal client would benefit from. 

If you’re struggling to decide what blogs to write — here’s a few general ideas to get your creative juices flowing …

  • Invite a guest blogger to write for you – Guest blogging is a great opportunity to add another voice to the conversation. Reach out to friends in your field and ask if they’d like to be featured on your blog. It saves you time and gives the guest blogger some free promo, too!
  • Interview an expert in your field – Q&A style blog posts work well because they’re essentially a transcription of an interview. Choose an expert in your field to interview, then transcribe your conversation and voila! You have an excellent blog post in no time.
  • Write an opinion piece about current events in your industry – If there’s an innovation in your field, this is your chance to speak into it. New art styles, technological advancements, and pop-culture are three categories that are always overflowing with new content. If you get stuck — this is a great place to start.
  • Share your favorite tools in your field – If you have favorites in your field, this is your chance to share them with your audience. Plus — if you have your own affiliate links, you can add them and make some passive revenue at the same time!

Step 2: Actions of Automation

At first, writing a blog might feel like a tedious process. But you just might be surprised at how much you can automate when it comes to blogging. Start by taking an inventory of what you’re already doing. Are you writing social media posts? Great! Beef up the content and turn it into a blog. Were you featured on someone’s podcast? Fantastic! Transcribe that content into a blog post for your own audience.

When you start to take note of what content you’re already producing, the blogging part becomes a lot easier. Make a list of content you’ve produced already that might make a great blog.

Step 3: Social Media & Systems

Unfortunately, writing a blog is not enough. You have to also share it with people. This might seem daunting at first, but you can build your blog posts into a lot of your other systems. Here are a few suggestions …

  • Share your blog on social – You’re already posting on social — you might as well share about your blog, too! Blogs make great grid posts and story posts. Plus — they drive traffic to your website which is great for sales. 
  • Mention your blog in your newsletter – If you’re sending a newsletter to your email list, you can call out your blog to your audience. Newsletters can be boring, and often people will unsubscribe. But if you include your blog posts in your newsletter you’ll be delivering valuable content to your audience and they’ll be more likely to stick around.
  • Call out your blog on your landing pages – You can also add a blog selection to your landing pages. That way, when people come to your website, they’ll be able to read the blog and can immediately engage with your brand.

Step 4: Knowledge

Now it’s time to reflect. One of the best ways to reflect when it comes to blogging is by reading through your blog one more time. It’s a great opportunity to check for any errors, but most of all, it’s your chance to review your content. Here are four questions to ask yourself while you read through your blog …

  • What knowledge does your audience gain from this blog?
  • How does the content of this blog make their lives better?
  • Does this blog lead your audience closer to your business?

The truth is — your blog should do all three of these things. If it doesn’t, you can go back, repeat the process, and improve your blog even more!

Blogging For A Business

Blogging for your business can feel overwhelming. But it doesn’t have to be. When you create a consistent schedule and apply the TASK method, your blogs will establish you as the go-to expert in your field.
